Stereotypes abound
about South Dallas, so the first step toward positive change is
getting past stereotypes to facts. That's part of "keeping it
real."
For facts, the South Dallas
Community Action Coalition turned to the J.
McDonald Williams Institute, the research arm of the Foundation
for Community Empowerment. FCE and the Institute are built on the belief that
community residents, drawing on their own hard-earned wisdom and
armed with the best statistical data about their neighborhoods,
are the most powerful force for change.
As a starting point for the work of the Coalition's five
task forces, the Institute compiled a one-page analysis of each of
the issue areas. Click on each topic in the adjacent list to see
the data.
